Religious Freedom

If then the Son shall make you free, you will be free indeed.

John 8:36 - Weymouth Translation

Laws can't provide the type of freedom that followers of Jesus are really seeking.

  1. The above verse was written in a time of slavery.

Slavery was wrong, yet the verse expresses the simple truth that emancipation is not true freedom. Social justice is a nice goal, but no amount of it can provide the freedom that is termed "free indeed."

Society has never, and can never truly embody the ideals of Jesus because Jesus came to save individuals. I understand when people think Christian values are slipping away, but what has so-called Christian society done with these values but devalued them so much that they mean very little.

The truth has not changed, but societies take turns picking and choosing the parts of it they think are more important than others.

The people who protest gay marriage watch porn and get divorced.

Homosexuality was completely different in Jesus' day but it was very common, and we have no record of any comments Jesus made about the subject. Rather, Jesus helped individuals to cleanse themselves, not judge others.
