Have you ever spoken with someone who required you to provide audible consent every two seconds or else they would accuse you of hanging up on them?
But an actual word, rather than an ummm or uh-huh would be conceived as interrupting?
A question would demand an immediate answer- one particular unknown answer seemed to be required because any other would be met with opposition- but an answer over five words would also be seen as bogarting?
